Why did I decide to write about roots of New Orleans for my Senior Project ?

* My discovery of a plantation  in Baton Rouge called Magnolia Mound. 

 

* My growing fascination of the shotgun houses as an evolutionary extension of the slave cottage.

 

* I am compelled by the strong sense of community that the individual neighborhoods in the city of New Orleans possesses and how places of worship often play a vital role in the building of these communities.

 

-All the above, led me to work on The Village Roots project. 

 

This is just a helpful homepage that is essentially a visual digitized version of the whole project.

As a preservationist and artist, I  work towards accentuating the relevancy and importance of the word and concept of "Place".
